THE NOVICES
Our 2018 Novitiate class consists of eight men, from different parts of the world and representing three provinces. The Friars novices will live together for a year and day, and take part in the full novitiate program under the guidance of their formation team. They will discern and develop their sense of vocation to the religious life within the Conventual Franciscans.

Friar Matthew Goodwin
St. Bonaventure Province
Friar Matt Goodwin is thirty-nine years old and comes from Wichita, Kansas. In the fall of 2014 he discovered and followed-up with the Conventual Franciscans of St. Bonaventure Midwest Province to consider his vocation. While attending a “Come and See” weekend in Chicago he visited with another local religious community; his heart was won over by the Conventual Franciscans. Providentially, as he graduated from Wichita State University in the summer of 2015 with a Bachelor of Social Work, he received the acceptance letter to enter our Franciscan postulancy.

Friar Richard Rome
Our Lady of the Angels Province

Friar Fabian Ardderley
Our Lady of the Angels Province
Friar Fabian Adderley is 31 years of age, born in Nassau, the Bahamas, and grew up in New Provenience which is the capital of the Bahamas. Prior to joining the Conventual Franciscans, he worked in hospitality, food and beverage management and he also ran a small business consultant agency. During a long period of recovery from a tragic accident, he had much time for prayer, reading and watching television. He came to know the Conventual Franciscans through a television program on EWTN. The life and work of St. Francis of Assisi inspired him in a special way to respond to the call of something greater than himself. He is inspired by Mother Teresa words “God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son. God still loves the world and sends you and me to be His love, His compassion to the poor.”

Friar Jason Warrer
